Prerequisite: IAD 102

The study of sustainable building concepts, green architecture strategies, and systems development is applied to a small- and medium-size office environment. Goals of the course are to familiarize the students with the issues of hierarchy as it relates to spatial allocation, corporate structure, corporate image, basic commercial office code issues, and standard commercial office furnishings and equipment. An understanding of these issues is gained through readings, research, field visits and lecture material covering the latest developments in the field of environmental design. A comprehensive studio design project will encompass site and environmental planning, material and system selection, and integration of technology to create works that are functionally, aesthetically, and environmentally sound. Notes: Workload per week: one hour of lecture, five hours of studio and six hours of homework. Prerequisites: IAD 102 or, if transfer student, studio closest to sequence.
