SOA 370: Photography and Visual Culture

Prerequisite: SOA 101 or SOA 111

The production and consumption of photographs in different historical and cultural contexts. Explores how photography has shaped our collective understandings of ourselves and others and has produced particular ways of knowing the world. Students analyze images from a sociological/anthropological perspective and produce their own documentary visual narratives.
