Art History at CVPA

The study of art history can prepare CVPA students (both majors and minors) for a variety of professional options, including:

  • graduate study
  • gallery/museum careers
  • arts administration
  • library and archives positions
  • corporate arts management

Faculty members are highly regarded and published scholars in the discipline of art history and visual culture.

Students are offered a variety of courses that encompass topics and expertise related to western and non-western arts and visual culture, including:

  • ancient Greece and Rome
  • the Americas
  • modern Europe
  • the United States
  • the Islamic world
  • China and Japan

We also offer courses in the histories and theories of film, new media, digital art, animation, popular culture, architecture, and sustainability.
