Before joining the full-time faculty at the law school, Professor Jacobs served as an Associate Justice of the Appeals Court of Massachusetts from 1989 until his retirement in 2003. Professor Jacobs also served as an Associate Justice in the Superior Court from 1981 to 1989 and as an Associate Justice in the Probate and Family Court from 1975 to 1981.
Before becoming a judge, Professor Jacobs maintained a private commercial and trial law practice and also served as New Bedford City Solicitor and an assistant Attorney General for Massachusetts.
Professor Jacobs has co-authored a treatise on Massachusetts Professional Malpractice, published by Thomson West.
