Professional background

Before joining the faculty of the Southern New England School of Law in 1989, Professor Hillinger was the Director of Legal Writing and Appellate Advocacy at the Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William & Mary. He also served as law clerk to Judge Walter E. Hoffman of the United States District Court for the Eastern Division of Virginia.

Prior to beginning law school, Professor Hillinger taught history and political science at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. Professor Hillinger has been admitted to the Virginia Bar.
