Mark Preble, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, was appointed Chief Operating Officer and Acting Chancellor of UMass Dartmouth on August 1, 2020. Before his tenure as Acting Chancellor, Mr. Preble served as the Vice Chancellor for Human Resources at UMass Dartmouth. Mr. Preble has held leadership roles across the UMass system including Chief Human Resources Officer for the entire UMass system, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance at UMass Dartmouth, and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Employee Relations at UMass Boston. Throughout his life and career, Mr. Preble has witnessed public higher education institutions make positive changes in the lives of students and communities and has committed himself to create more opportunities for success at these organizations. Mr. Preble also served as the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission before his time in higher education. Mr. Preble holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Graduate Certificate in Dispute Resolution from UMass Boston, and a Juris Doctorate from Suffolk Law School.
