Why CEN at UMass Dartmouth?

TridentThe top priority in our department is always undergraduate teaching. Students gain an appreciation of how civil and environmental engineering touches their lives on a daily basis. We teach students how to deal with water resource issues, waste water problems, flood control, ground water management, the design of roads, bridges, tunnels, runways, etc. We also teach new technologies and new methodologies of design construction and maintenance of civil facilities. State-of-the-art computer applications are used extensively throughout the curriculum.

Our graduates can choose to work either for themselves, or for local, state or federal government. They find employment in private firms, small or large, engaging in national and international projects. Our program is interdisciplinary; graduates are well-prepared for either a wide range of challenging positions in a multidisciplinary environment, or for additional education at a masters or doctoral level.
