CONFIRMED: Problem-based learning to build learner competencies: Overview and exemplar in a population health nursing course
Competency-based education shifts the focus of learning from acquiring knowledge to building competencies, with the end goal of preparing learners to tackle real world demands. Problem-based learning is a pedagogical strategy focused on critical thinking and collaboration that can be used to nurture learner competency-building. This session will provide an overview of competency-based education and problem-based learning, and demonstrate the application of problem-based learning to an undergraduate population health nursing course.
