DESCRIPTION:The UMass Dartmouth Episcopal Campus Ministry is hosting an eve
 nt with Bishop Mary D. Glasspool, Assisting Bishop of the Episcopal Dioces
 e of Massachusetts and a nationally known social justice advocate on Sunda
 y, October 18 at 10:00AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 351 Elm Street, 
 Darmouth. All UMass D students, faculty and staff are invited to attend. G
 lasspool has spent more than four decades in ordained ministry and has bec
 ome widely known for her work in the areas of inclusion, social justice, r
 econciliation, and equality. Her ministry has also made history. In 2010, 
 Glasspool became the first openly lesbian bishop in the Anglican Communion
 , attracting international attention and becoming a prominent voice in ong
 oing conversations about LGBTQIA+ inclusion and leadership within religiou
 s institutions. She is also a passionate voice for racial justice and reco
 nciliation; gun-violence prevention; and creating a more inclusive, justic
 e-oriented society. Glasspool continues to speak on issues including LGBTQ
 IA+ inclusion, racial justice, equality, reconciliation, and the role reli
 gious communities can play in addressing social divisions. Her visit to Da
 rtmouth will give local residents an opportunity to meet and hear from a n
 ationally recognized church leader whose career has intersected with some 
 of the most significant social and cultural changes affecting American rel
 igious life in recent decades. The 10:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, October 18 w
 ill feature St. Peter’s Contemporary Music Ministry, including Praise an
 d Worship music. Following the service, a free luncheon will be served, gi
 ving attendees an opportunity to meet Bishop Glasspool and gather informal
 ly with members of the community. The luncheon is free and open to all.
