DESCRIPTION:Salt marshes are valuable biogeomorphic components of the coast
al zone, providing habitat, storm protection, and carbon sequestration. Be
cause of these ecosystem services, large investments in marsh restoration
are happening on the local, regional, and global level. Though the persist
ence of vegetative communities largely depends on salinity and elevation,
the long-term trajectory of salt marshes is controlled by the interaction
between sea-level rise and sediment budgets. Here we demonstrate how proce
ss-based sediment transport measurements, geospatial analysis, and simple
decision frameworks can inform salt marsh restoration. \nEvent page: http
