Tslk: German American Relations—Partnership in Crisis?
General Consul Rolf-Dieter Schnelle leads an open forum discussion on German American relations. Since the founding of the Federal Republic, Germany and America have fifty years of close relations. Germany and America have cooperated extensively to bring those behind the 9/11 terror attacks to justice. The Gaman courts recently convicted and sentenced main conspirators of the attacks; German foreign aid and the German Armed Forces assist in supporting and securing the rebuilding of Afghanistan. However, does German disagreement with US foreign policy in Iraq threaten to swamp over f~fty years of close partnership?
