MIKEL, INC. OPENS NEW ENGINEERING OFFICE AT THE ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY & MANUFACTURING CENTER IN FALL RIVER, MA
Fall River, MA - September 22, 2003 – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth announced today that MIKEL, Inc. has opened a new engineering office in Fall River, at the Advanced Technology & Manufacturing Center (ATMC). With corporate headquarters in Nevada, MIKEL opened this expansion office with three new employees. Its primary focus is on providing the U.S. Navy with technological solutions for undersea warfare.
Brian Guimond, President and founder of MIKEL stated, “The rationale behind our expansion into the SouthCoast Research and Technology Park is to build a relationship with the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and to tap into their intellectual resources to support and accelerate our company’s growth.” Dr. Thomas Curry, Director of the ATMC added, “The association between MIKEL and the ATMC is an important step in broadening our efforts to assist technology companies that have the potential to grow and prosper in the region.”
Mr. Guimond is a Fall River native and a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (B.S.E.E, M.S.E.E) and the University of Rhode Island (M.B.A). He is returning to the local area after serving as the Science Advisor and the Director of Tactical Analysis for the Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMSUBPAC) located at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
MIKEL is an advanced engineering company primarily focused on providing the U.S. Navy with affordable real time technological solutions to complex undersea warfare sensor processing, as well as decision support and analysis issues facing modern Navy platforms and systems.
