UMass Dartmouth and Rhode Island Public Radio create new collaboration
The University will transfer its WUMD-FM broadcast license to RIPR. The University will receive $1.5 million to endow student need-based financial aid and community engagement activity. RIPR will also provide on-air promotion for the University and collaborate with UMASS Dartmouth on internships and other academic efforts. RIPR will nearly double its geographical footprint, providing its audience with consistent, immediate, locally-sourced coverage and access to National Public Radio content. WUMD will move to a fully online global program format.
