UMassD student with family on move-in day

Parents, Families and Friends

Welcome, parents & family members

We’re excited to have you join the UMass Dartmouth community!

Shelley Metivier ScottAs a new Corsair, your student is about to embark on one of their most significant life experiences. Over the next four years, they will learn to engage in college-level academic work, make new friends, manage finances, live in a community, and build an independent life.

At UMass Dartmouth, we consider all of these components of college life to be part of the educational experience. We don’t fragment your student’s life here into academic, personal, and co-curricular zones. Instead, we are committed to supporting the growth of each student as a whole person. We recognize that our students have their own histories, strengths, and challenges. UMass Dartmouth academic and student affairs professionals work together to encourage our students to actively communicate their needs and to take advantage of the many support services we offer. You should feel free to consult any of our support services directly as well.

We hope this information will give you a sense of how the UMass Dartmouth faculty, administration, and staff work as one to sustain a challenging and supportive environment that allows each of our students to develop and succeed, both intellectually and personally.

We look forward to working with you, so that together, we can provide a solid foundation for your student to thrive here . . . and beyond.
