Limited Submission programs are those in which the number of submissions per institution is limited by the sponsor.
When the number of interested applicants exceeds the number allowed by the sponsor, the University uses an internal selection process to determine which proposals will be submitted.
Announcements of internal deadlines by Research Development will be made through e-mails to faculty and program directors, on the opportunity listing in Pivot, and on the ORA website through the limited submissionslist. The limited submissions list is being updated please call Stefanie Picard to inquire.
If you find a limited submission opportunity that is not included in this list and you would like to apply, please forward the opportunity link to Stefanie Picard.
Limited Submissions
A preliminary round may be needed to determine which PIs submit to these limited opportunities. Please make early contact with Stefanie Picard in the Office of Research Development if you are considering applying.
Ongoing Opportunities
If more than the allowed number of Principal Investigators express interest in a given program, each will be asked to submit a pre-proposal for internal review. Pre-proposals may be required even if the agency deadline is for a Letter of Intent rather than a full proposal, so PIs should be sure to register interest by the internal deadline.
A pre-proposal should include at a minimum:
- an abstract (maximum of 3 pages) describing the project and how it meets the program goals
- the impact on education and research at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth
- an estimated budget and justification, including any planned match or institutional commitment
The Office of the Provost will review the pre-proposals. Proposals to be submitted will be selected based on the impact on the University's science and educational goals, as well as responsiveness to the evaluation criteria established by the sponsor.
