The Kaput Center for Research and Innovation in STEM Education is an interdisciplinary research center where fundamental issues in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education are studied, discussed, and analyzed. Innovative solutions are proposed and investigated. The center focuses on three areas:
- learning design examines design challenges and tensions teachers and professors face in developing new curriculum, developing new technologies, and integrating resources into mainstream education.
- teacher quality targets effective teaching and practice
- education policy investigates how to effectively translate research into practice
The Kaput Center also serves as a living laboratory for graduate students and UMassD faculty in the STEM Education PhD program.
