Kids2College

Started in the spring of 2013, Kids2College engages fifth grade students and increases their awareness of how education impacts future life choices. The connection between education and career aspirations is one of the most important drop-out prevention strategies for low-income students. This program provides students with the opportunity to learn more about college, explore careers, make the connection between college and job opportunities, and begin planning for their future. The goal of this program is to provide students with a road map that will guide them through college.

The majority of the Kids2College curriculum is carried out at the elementary school. The culmination of the program is a tour of the UMass Dartmouth campus and a service activity, such as harvesting vegetables at the Sharing the Harvest Community Farm at the Dartmouth YMCA.
