UMass Dartmouth business programs rank second among Massachusetts public universities in 2027 U.S. News rankings
The Charlton College of Business at UMass Dartmouth rose 18 places in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report's Best Undergraduate Programs rankings, ranking No. 176 nationally, positioned among the top third of business schools in the United States.
Among public universities in Massachusetts, Charlton is the second-highest rated, tied with UMass Boston. It is seventh among public universities in New England and second among public universities nationwide with fewer than 6,000 undergraduate students.
"The Massachusetts SouthCoast deserves a world-class business school, and that is what we are building at Charlton," said Charlton College of Business Dean Madan Annavarjula. "We want students to work with local businesses, tackle real challenges, and build careers that strengthen the communities they call home."
The college’s rise comes as Charlton continues to build connections with regional businesses and organizations. Through its Capstone Practicum, teams of senior business students work with local partners on strategic challenges, applying what they have learned in the classroom to projects with practical value.
Charlton also maintained its accreditation from AACSB International in 2026. The accreditation recognizes standards for faculty, academic programs, and student learning, and is held by fewer than 6% of schools with business programs worldwide.
How the business rankings are determined
U.S. News bases its undergraduate business rankings on peer assessments of business programs accredited by AACSB International. Deans and senior faculty at participating schools evaluate the academic quality of other undergraduate business programs.
