Student Employment
Do not lose your Federal Work Study!
Students awarded Federal Work-Study (FWS) that do not secure a job by the October 11 fall hiring deadline may keep half of their award for the spring semester.
To defer your FWS until the spring semester, complete the Federal Work Study Deferment Form (PDF) by the date indicated on the form and upload it to the Student Service Center (SSC). Failure to submit the form by the deadline will result in the cancellation of the entire FWS award.
Just as in the "real world", finding a campus job can be competitive because there are a limited number of positions available each semester. Students who begin their job search early are more likely to find jobs that accommodate class schedules and match skill sets.
Many jobs are posted over the summer, and hiring may take place over the summer or during the first few weeks of the semester.

Programs & eligibility
- Federal work-study (FWS): These jobs are available to students who have work-study as part of their financial aid award.
- Non-work-study: These jobs are available to all students who wish to work on campus.
- Stipend-based positions: These positions have hours associated with them, even though they are not based on hourly wages. A stipend is payment for work performed by a graduate student.
Students work throughout the university in academics, administration, athletics, the library, maintenance, student affairs, technology and many more areas. There are also opportunities to work off-campus through the Federal Work-Study program at non-profit and community agencies.
