Accessible Transportation

We provide transportation services to students with disabilities between on-campus locations via a wheelchair-capable van. To schedule: transportation@umassd.edu.

For questions regarding this service, contact the Transportation Office at 508.999.9175. If the shuttle service is cancelled, contact UMassD Police at 508.999.8107.

Getting around campus

Resources to help you move around Ring road.

  1. Visit buswhere.com/umassd and sign up with your UMassD email.
  2. A confirmation email will be sent to you. If you don't see it, make sure to check your spam or trash folder. Click the link to register.
  3. Download "BusWhere for UMassD" in your phone's app store.
  4. Login to the app using your UMassD email.

When the Safe Rides Shuttle Service hours conclude, you can contact the UMassD Police dispatch at 508.999.8107 to request a Safe Walk to your campus destination.

Bike racks are available outside most buildings around campus.

Commuting to satellite campuses

UMassD offers a shuttle and bus transportation to our satellite campuses: UMass Law, the CVPA Star Store, and SMAST.

The Loop: Star Store Arts Campus*

Traveling between the main campus (Dartmouth) and the Star Store arts campus (downtown New Bedford) is easy when you ride the Loop bus. The Loop bus runs during the academic year.

To travel to SMAST in the south end of New Bedford, ride local public transportation (covering New Bedford & Fall River: SRTA: Southeastern Regional Transit Authority. See route maps for exact stops.

In partnership with SRTA, we offer students the ability to ride SRTA buses at no cost by simply showing your UMass Pass. View the SRTA 2022-2023 Route Schedule (PDF). SRTA provides access to routes and stops in Fall River, New Bedford, and the surrounding area.

LAST BUS: The SRTA #9 bus provides transportation from the Main Campus (Campus Center) to the New Bedford Bus terminal. The bus also makes all intermediary stops along its route from UMassD to the New Bedford terminal. The bus normally arrives at the Campus Center at approximately 8:27pm and waits until 8:35pm before it begins its route to the New Bedford Terminal.

Dattco Bus Services

The Dattco bus runs from Boston to New Bedford, and makes stops at UMass Dartmouth on Fridays and Sundays. Tickets can be purchased on the Dattco Website

Singular/Special Events and R25 Live

  • To book transportation only requests:  log into R25 Live.  Select "create an event". Fill in required lines.  Event type, select "services or transportation". Enter number of riders on bus as number of "expected head count".  Enter more specifics in "event descriptions".  You will need to select a room.  Go to "Location" and select from "seach location" on the right-hand side.  Type "no room".  Select any option of "noroom" and hit "reserve".  Complete the R 25 reservation as normal.
  • For any additional questions, contact the transportation office, 9am–4pm.
  • Approval is based upon the availability of staff and shuttles
