Submit your enrollment deposit

Submit your enrollment deposit to reserve you a spot for Spring class at UMass Dartmouth. The enrollment deposit will help you obtain an F1 student visa as well. When you complete the intent to enroll form, you can pay your enrollment deposit online.

Submit the declaration of finances form with affidavit of support

Submit the declaration of finances form with affidavit of support before we issue you the I-20. Please also submit your family/sponsor’s bank statement that is valid within nine months before the first day of class to demonstrate your financial resources. Bank statement can be requested from a local bank and needs to be in English. Declaration of finances form and affidavit of support forms can be found at International Students and Scholar Center (ISSC).

International students who transfer from a U.S. school, please have your current school fill out the Transfer Verification Form (PDF).

International students who transfer from a foreign school, please have WES/CED/SpanTran send us your Foreign Credits Evaluation. Please email us your course descriptions/syllabus after receiving the transfer credits evaluation report from Admissions office.

Submit your housing application (in September or after you Deposit)

If you’ve chosen to live on campus, you can start the housing application soon after you have submitted your deposit and activated your UMassD account. The Housing and Residential Education Office will send you an email to your UMass Dartmouth email account when you have been set up to access the housing application, within the Housing Portal.

When can I choose a room? How do I choose a roommate? What are “engagement communities” and how do I choose one?

The first step is to sign the housing contract, enter emergency contacts, and other information such as ADA Accommodations, and then you’ll be on your way to roommate matching or requests. Once you gain access to the Housing Portal (information emailed to your UMassD email address), you’ll find a “New Students” section with links and information to get started, as well as helpful videos from the housing team to walk you through the process!

Receive your I-20 and schedule a visa interview

For an initial student visa, accepted international students need an I-20 document in order to enter the United States. The I-20 is a multi-purpose document issued by UMass Dartmouth certifying that a student has been admitted to a full-time study program and that the student has demonstrated sufficient financial resources to stay in the U.S. An admitted student students apply for an F-1 student visa at a U.S. consulate abroad (usually in the student’s home country).

Transferring from a U.S. school: International students who transfer from a U.S. school, please have your current school fill out the Transfer Verification Form (PDF).

Last day to request your I-20

December 15 is the last day for international freshmen to deposit and request I-20s.

Activate your UMassD account

You will receive an email inviting you to activate your UMassD student account. The subject line will be "UMassD Logon Account Activation."

The UMassD Logon is your username and password for email, our "myUMassD" portal, and our "COIN" student information system. It is different from the “Check My Status” ID and password you’ve used as an applicant. You may have already activated your account to upload Financial Aid documents. You will not receive your email to activate your account until you have paid your deposit.

Complete important tasks in COIN

Access COIN, the student information system, in the my.umassd.edu portal under Quick Launch.

  • Review and complete the items on your COIN to-do list.
  • Review your financial aid awards and confirm you don’t have any outstanding items in your financial aid to-do list. Your account balance will be available to review in late July.
  • Set up authorized users.
  • Enter emergency contact information.

Submit immunization and health requirements

Submit your immunization and health requirements through the Health Services Patient Portal. You must complete your health record online including Health History, Immunization Records (required by Massachusetts law), Tuberculosis Risk Assessment.

Book your flights to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).

Move-in day for residential international students

You will receive information closer to move-in day. Please make sure you have completed all the necessary steps to be eligible to move into housing.

January TBD: International Students Orientation

Meet your Orientation Leader and your Orientation group. Join info sessions, social, recreational and entertainment activities. Yes – you’ll have help finding your classrooms before your first day! Learn more about International Student Orientation.

Pay your bill

You’ll receive an email notification when your Spring e-bill is available. You should review your email and log into COIN to make a payment to be eligible to move into Housing. We offer a monthly payment plan which allows students and families the option to pay the term bill in monthly installments, interest free.

You're encouraged to enroll in direct deposit to ensure that any credit balance refunds can be issued electronically.
