Attention Students - General Summary about SOA 350 Language, Society, and Nature: Does language reflect a social, cultural-environmental world? Does language influence our relationships with nature? How is difference built through language? In this course, we will explore how language reflects, reinforces, creates, and contests relationships of power. We will look at how speaking reveals social values and beliefs, including those linked to nature and the environment. And, how individuals use language to produce and reproduce discourses about the social world and the natural world that affect our perceptions of them.
