Honors Scholarships

Each year, there are several scholarship opportunities open to students in the Honors College. For the current year's scholarships, descriptions, application instructions, and relevant dates, please refer to the Corsair Scholarship Portal. All scholarships and applications are managed by the Office of Financial Aid.

Shaukat Ali Memorial Humanitarian Scholarship

To support a full-time (12+ day credits per semester) student(s) enrolled in the Honors Program at the University.  Preference is for a student(s) who is maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, demonstrates academic promise, and who lives by the ideals that Dr. Ali embraced such as honesty, hard work, compassion, humility and goodwill towards people of all faiths, ethnicities and nationalities.  Community service and volunteerism will also be considered.

Blue & Gold Scholarship 2022-23: Nunes-Mello Family Scholarship

To support a full-time (12+ day credits per semester) Fall 2022 incoming Freshman with demonstrated financial need and enrolled in the UMD Honors College majoring in accounting and/or finance.  The scholarship will follow the student for four years while earning their first bachelor’s degree. The recipient will benefit from a mentorship program with the donor while receiving this scholarship, with an opportunity to connect in-person throughout the year. This scholarship is renewable for the undergraduate degree for up to 4 years as long as the recipient continues to be enrolled full time in day credits, maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, files a FAFSA by March 1, and actively participates as part of the mentorship program with the donor.

Ruth & Dean Cassell Scholarship

To support a full-time student undergraduate (12+ day credits) in the Honors Program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2, Student must have played a varsity sport in High School. Preference to leadership, teamwork, student government, Resident Assistant, orientation leader, and/or substantial financial need. If all eligibility requirements continue to be met, recipients may apply for renewal, however an award does not imply continuation beyond a single year.

Louise A. Habicht University Honors Program Senior Honors Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded during the current spring semester for the following academic year. The recipient will be a current junior who will be a full-time (12+ day credits per semester) senior enrolled in the University Honors College, in good academic standing, who will be working on their APEX project at UMass Dartmouth and is expected to graduate in the following academic year. 

Margaret M. Panos Honors Essay Award

This award is open to all enrolled Honors College students in good standing. The top 3 winners will be awarded prizes to be credited towards the fall semester charges (or a refund if a graduating senior with no outstanding invoice).

Rick Pitino Presidential Scholarship

To provide scholarship support to a full-time undergraduate (12+ day credits per semester) student in the Honors Program. Recipients may apply for renewal, however an award does not imply continuation beyond a single year.

John Smith Presidential Scholarship

To provide scholarship support to a full-time undergraduate (12+ day credits per semester) student in good academic standing in the Honors Program who is a Massachusetts resident. This scholarship is renewable, however an award does not imply continuation beyond a single year.
