SMAST to host marine science research symposium

The 2019 UMass Intercampus Marine Science Research Symposium on April 4 will highlight cutting-edge research being conducted by students and faculty from all five UMass campuses.

UMass Dartmouth's School for Marine Science & Technology (SMAST) will host the 2019 UMass Intercampus Marine Science (IMS) Research Symposium. The symposium is an opportunity to learn about the cutting-edge marine science research being conducted by students, staff, and faculty from all five UMass campuses (Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth, Lowell, and Worcester). 

The symposium will be held Thursday, April 4 from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm in the Lobby of SMAST East (836 S. Rodney French Blvd, New Bedford, MA). The morning session will consist of plenary presentations and the afternoon will consist of lightning talks and a poster session. In addition to oral presentations, the event will feature keynote speakers, a reception, and awards for the best overall poster presentation and best talk. 
The event is free and open to the public. A detailed agenda will be provided at a later date. Lunch will be provided for attendees. Please RSVP by Friday, March 29, 2019. Learn more about the IMS program.

Call for poster abstracts

Calling all abstracts related to marine science. Each poster presenter is also invited to present a 3-minute, single-slide “lightning talk” summarizing their poster presentation. Please submit your research poster title and abstract to Kathryn Tremblay and Margot Wilsterman by Monday, March 25, 2019.
