Chancellor Fuller highlights momentum, leadership, and the future of UMass Dartmouth
As the sun set over Boston’s skyline, alumni, legislators, UMass Trustees, friends, and members of the UMass Dartmouth community gathered high above the city for an evening of lively conversation and connection across the generations.
Held on the 32nd floor of One Beacon Street, the reception brought together guests from across the region to reconnect with one another and hear from Chancellor Mark A. Fuller about the UMass Dartmouth’s striking momentum. Looking out over the city, Fuller reflected on what brought everyone into the room.
“What united everyone here was a shared belief in the power and promise of UMass Dartmouth,” said Fuller. “And that was inspiring to witness.”
In his remarks, the Chancellor highlighted the university’s recent accomplishments while outlining priorities for the years ahead, emphasizing student success, continued research growth, and UMass Dartmouth’s emergence as a destination of choice. He pointed to tangible indicators of progress across multiple areas of the institution.
“Our momentum is real and measurable,” Fuller said. “We welcomed our largest incoming class since 2018, including 21 students who graduated in the top 10 of their regional high schools; our research enterprise has grown by approximately 20% in each of the last five years; and FY25 marked our highest fundraising total in 15 years.”
Beyond the formal remarks, the evening offered opportunities for meaningful interaction. Alumni and guests mingled over refreshments, exchanged updates, and connected directly with university leadership, including the Provost and the deans of UMass Dartmouth’s eight colleges and schools. Conversations throughout the room reflected both pride in the university’s progress and enthusiasm for its future.
For Alumni Association Board President James Pace ’09, the reception was both professionally and personally meaningful.
“I have always felt so grateful to be a part of such an extraordinary university, and hearing Chancellor Fuller’s words made me proud to continue to be part of its future,” Pace said. “It was great to see so many alumni and friends gathered—I even had the chance to reconnect with an alum who served as an orientation leader with me.”
Organized by the Office of the Chancellor in partnership with Alumni Relations, the event underscored UMass Dartmouth’s commitment to building and sustaining strong relationships with its alumni and friends—relationships that continue to play a vital role in advancing the university’s mission.
As UMass Dartmouth looks ahead, the university plans to host additional opportunities throughout the year for alumni and friends to connect with campus leadership and one another, strengthening the community that supports its continued growth and success.
