Criminal Prosecution Clinic
The Criminal Prosecution Clinic (CPC) is housed in the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
CPC students, supervised by a senior District Attorney, spend one semester engaged in the legal work of a prosecutor. Third-year students gain experience in the courtroom and refine their skills, including:
- discovery
- legal writing
- litigation strategy
- courtroom presentation
Students participate in weekly seminars where they focus on a variety of topics in:
- criminal law and procedure
- evidence
- ethics
- practice skills
In addition to the two-hour seminar, students average 10 hours a week on their case work.
Prerequisite: Criminal Procedure (Law 521)
Co-requisites: Legal Ethics (Law 525), Evidence (Law 576) or Trial Practice (Law 620)
Permission of instructor required.
