Mission
The College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is dedicated to creative inquiry – exploring, making, learning, and teaching. The college provides a rigorous student-centered education. We place an emphasis on hands-on learning through social and community engagement, and we encourage and support cross-disciplinary study and collaborative research in order to help students become lifelong practitioners in the visual and performing arts and design and attain fulfilling careers.

Goals
- Assess recruitment practices (venues, personnel, application requirements) to optimize enrollment.
- Assess retention practices in order to maintain and increase student retention.
- Offer current and engaging curricula that prepare students for fulfilling and creative lives.
- Continue to demonstrate excellence in faculty and student research and creative activities.
- Continue and build mutually beneficial relationships with communities as part of centering the visual and performing arts as part of a common good.
