Provost to CVPA Staff and Faculty on August 28

Dear CVPA Faculty and Staff,

I just wanted to follow up on the Chancellor’s recent message and add my heartfelt thanks to his. Amid this very unexpected and challenging transition, your leadership and collaboration in developing solutions that will serve our students well over the coming year is both inspiring and very much appreciated.

Now that we have largely identified the spaces that will house CVPA programs and courses that were taught in the Star Store, we will be focusing on getting those spaces set up for these new purposes. I’d like to thank all the faculty who are having detailed conversations with the Dean’s office, with my team, and with facilities to ensure that we have power outlets where they are needed and have mapped the layout of each room.

I’d also like to thank all the Star Store-based CVPA faculty and staff, and especially Shingo Furukawa, Jessica Fernandes Gomes and Lin Dong, who have worked tirelessly to help label and safely pack all of the equipment, furniture, supplies and artwork for the move. This has been an enormous task that is still ongoing. Dean Lawrence Jenkens and Associate Dean Ann Kim have also been working 24/7, and have done an exceptional job in advocating for the needs of CVPA programs, faculty and students throughout this process. 

We are very focused on responding to the needs of impacted students, but I know that this move is challenging for all of you, too. Please know that the whole Provost’s Office team and I are here to support you.
