Courses
The major studios involve intensive work and research in the student's area of concentration. Students investigate the aesthetic, conceptual, technical, and structural properties of chosen media through an individualized study program developed under the guidance of their major advisors. Through questioning and experimentation, students are expected to consolidate technique with the development of strong, expressive ideas. Informal critiques and individualized discussions are scheduled.
Introduction to 3D modeling and texture mapping. This studio course introduces fundamental modeling practices including polygonal modeling, UV mapping, surface development, lighting, and rendering. Emphasis is placed on hands-on projects, technical foundations, and visual development skills for animation, game design, and digital media.
Digital sculpting for game artists and animators. This course covers the fundamentals of digital sculpting using industry-standard software techniques and pipelines for the creation of digital characters, creatures, and assets.
Concept art for game artists and animators. In this course, students will learn industry-standard techniques and pipelines for the creation of concept art for films and games.

Pragmatic business aspects, skills needed for a career in design. Students create self-promotional materials and portfolios; write resumes, proposals, contracts and correspondence; and improve presentation, interview and job search skills. The course includes production and industry practices, marketing methodologies, and professional etiquette and ethics; exposure to professional environments; and presentations from visiting professionals.
Study under the supervision of a faculty member in an area not otherwise part of the discipline's course offerings. Conditions and hours to be arranged.
