Computer requirements

All College of Nursing and Health Sciences students are required to have a laptop, which lets you interact with the software used in the college, submit assignments, and share work with instructors and fellow students.

Laptop minimum specifications

Apple Laptop

  • Processor: Core i5
  • Memory/RAM: 8GB
  • Hard Drive: 256GB
  • Optical Drive: 8x Slot-loading SuperDrive - optional
  • Operating system: 10.X (Please confirm your specific operating system requirements below.)

Windows Laptop

  • Processor: Intel Core i5
  • Memory/RAM: 8GB
  • Hard Drive: 256GB
  • Optical Drive: DVD Burner - optional
  • Operating system: 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 10. (Please confirm your specific operating system requirements below.)

Requirements: Exam Software Compatibility

The exam software can be used on most modern computers (i.e. purchased within the last 3-4 years)
Use the links below to confirm your laptop is compatible with the exam software in use by UMass Dartmouth College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Students are responsible for confirming that their laptop meets these software compatibility requirements.

New requirement (as of fall 2018)

If you are using a laptop for secured activities, including exams and quizzes, a privacy screen is mandatory. You may remove the privacy screen for non-secured activities.

ExamSoft Minimum System Requirements

Chromebooks are not supported
