International Experiences

Bridging the Atlantic Program: a research and exchange program of undergraduate and graduate nursing students from UMassD and the University of the Azores in Portugal. Students and faculty conduct research and provide health education with vulnerable immigrant populations in each country.   

Global Health Collaborative: a student-led organization that creates sustainable partnerships to improve the health of vulnerable populations through engagement and collaboration, both in local communities and across the globe.

Haiti/Partners in Development: the experiential learning portion of the undergraduate Community Health Nursing course offers an opportunity for students to work in clinics and provide health information to people in the developing nation of Haiti.

Opportunities

Honors College: undergraduate nursing students in the Honors College have opportunities to pursue and present original research and to be part of a community of scholars from across the university.

National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA): offers a unique opportunity for students to become members of the UMass Dartmouth Student Nurses Association.

Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP): for graduate nursing students enrolled in either the MS, DNP, or PhD programs who plan to become nurse educators.

Research Opportunities: undergraduate as well as graduate students are encouraged to pursue research projects in collaboration with faculty.

Scholarships: the College of Nursing & Health Sciences offers a number of scholarships based both on merit and financial need.

Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing: dedicated to improving the health of people worldwide through increasing the scientific base of nursing practice.

Support for Athletes: student-athletes majoring in nursing are encouraged to be active in their sports while pursuing a quality nursing education. Along with a high level of commitment and time management from the student-athlete, there is a corresponding level of understanding from professors and coaches.
