Clinical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Laboratory Regulation, Science Education, homocysteine, transthyretin (pre-albumin), and B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) as indicators of impending disease

Grants: National Science Foundation. Implementation of Science and Math Curriculum; from the Classroom to the Workplace. Three year grant ($275,000) shared with a local urban school department. 1997-2000.

Consultant: In-vitro fertilization laboratory, Greenwich, CT., clinical affiliates, COLA and State Inspector's group.

Recent Professional Activities

ASCLS Scientific Assembly Reorganization Task Force: Chaired the task force to explore how to best serve the discipline related interests of ASCLS members.

Member, Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute Subcommittees to recommend clinical laboratory standards of practice to the profession. Committee involvements include: Quality Assurance Standards (composite documents), Assessing Outliers and Medical Errors, Gas Chromatography, and Cholesterol Standardization including calibration.

NAACLS: Site inspector and paper reviewer.
