Gene Golub Memorial Conference
UMass Dartmouth
February 29 and March 1, 2008

Gene Golub 1932 -2007

This conference is part of the Gene Golub Around the World celebration. Gene Golub's friends and colleagues will gather around the globe on Friday February 29, 2008, the date that would have been his "19th birthday", to mourn his passing and celebrate his life.  Other sites holding events on this day include Stanford, Adelaide, Auckland, Austin, Berlin, Delft, Chicago, Canberra, Caracas, Hong Kong, Kharagpur,  Leuven,  Linkoping, Oxford, Mexico, Moscow, Pisa, Porto, Rio de Janiero, San Diego, Shanghai, Singapore, State College PA, Stellenbosch, Tel Aviv, Toulouse, Tripolis, Tsukuba, Urbana-Champaign, and Waterloo.

The meeting will be a full day on Friday, February 29 and a half day on Saturday, March 1. There will be informal talks, discussions of Gene Golub's works and influence, and remembrances of Gene.  There will be a reception on Friday evening followed by a banquet where all will be invited to share their remembrances of Gene.The organizing committee invites you to join with us to remember Gene and celebrate his life and many accomplishments.

 

Logistics

  • Conference Site: The UMass Dartmouth Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center (ATMC) (8 miles from UMass Dartmouth main campus)
  • Hotel: Hampton Inn - Special conference rate of $74 per night (plus 9.7% hotel tax).
    To book online and receive this rate use the Conference\Convention code:  AGG.
    The hotel is 1 mile from the ATMC. A shuttle service between hotel and ATMC will be scheduled.
  • Banquet site:  White's of Westport (adjacent to the Hampton Inn)  
  • Nearest Airport:  T. F. Green Airport, Providence, RI  (30 miles from ATMC)

Registration (Note we have extended the registration deadline to February 19 for both the conference and the banquet.)

Registration is free if you register by the deadline date: February 19, 2008.  After that date, the fee for late registration is $50.00. To register send the following information to sleon@umassd.edu
