Faculty

The MA and PhD programs in Portuguese at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth are sustained by the participation of elevent graduate faculty members in five departments housed in the College of Arts and Sciences. In addition, a distinguished visiting scholar takes up residence at UMass Dartmouth each year as the holder of the Hélio and Amélia Pedroso/Luso-American Foundation Endowed Chair in Portuguese Studies. All faculty participating in the graduate programs in Portuguese are deeply committed to innovative teaching, research and publication.

Students

Graduate students working toward the MA in Portuguese Studies or the PhD in Luso-Afro-Brazilian Studies and Theory come from many different educational and cultural backgrounds and from various countries besides the United States. Their research interests and projects reflect the diversity of their professional goals and the variety of learning opportunities available to them at UMass Dartmouth.
