Program introduction and alerts

Offered as:  On-campus Undergraduate Certificate

Do you have a BS degree in biology or chemistry? Are you interested in a hands-on career in microbiology and working with state-of-the-art equipment, where you can collaborate with a healthcare team as you help diagnose infections? Looking for a career where you can also make a great living? Consider our Clinical Microbiology Certificate Program!

Become a certified laboratory professional with the Clinical Microbiology Certificate. Students who complete this certification are eligible for the ASCP categorical certification examination in microbiology, which makes them eligible for employment in a clinical laboratory. This certificate grants eligibility to take the examination in as little as 18 months rather than the full 3-4 years of a traditional medical laboratory science program.

Please note this program is designed for individuals who hold a prior baccalaureate degree in biological sciences or chemistry or a baccalaureate degree with appropriate background in biology and chemistry. All required coursework is undergraduate level.
