Department of Teaching and Learning
If you are interested in becoming a teacher, or seeking advanced licensure, UMass Dartmouth offers both Massachusetts Initial and Professional Teaching Licensure programs at the graduate level, as well as a 5-year BA/BA MAT degree program for undergraduates.
The format and course requirements include a mix of course work and hands-on experience in a local school.
Degrees and certificates offered:
- Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Initial License — Elementary (Not accepting new applicants for academic year 2012-2013)
- Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Initial LIcense— Middle/Secondary
- MAT Program — Elementary (Master of Arts in Teaching) (Not accepting new applicants for academic year 2012-2013)
- Initial License and MAT Program Elementary (Not accepting new applicants for academic year 2012-2013)
- Initial License and MAT Program—Middle/Secondary
- 5-Year — BA/BS Initial License and MAT Program, Elementary (Not accepting new applicants for academic year 2012-2013)
- 5-Year — BA/BS Initial License and MAT Program, Middle/Secondary
