Student Info

Participation requirements

Students provide companionship for social enrichment and recreation for a specified number of hours per week, depending on the number of credits that they are taking (1-6 credits/semester is available). A total of 45 hours are required for each one credit. Generally, students select the one-credit experience and participate 3-4 hours a week. In addition to their weekly hours, students provide weekly journal entries on their activities, and attend 4 one-hour Community Companions meetings each semester.

Meetings

Meetings will occur once a month over the course of the semester, with monthly meeting times determined by the participating students in consultation with the program director.

Enrollment Process

The first step is to contact Professor Revell to indicate interest in the program. Enrollment paperwork and guidelines, along with a list of available placements will be provided. Students select a site consistent with their interests and availability and then complete the forms. Once approved, the course will appear in coin and access to the mycourses course site will be provided.
