Kayleigh Ellison: Why I Chose UMass Law

Originally from Missouri, Kayleigh Ellison was drawn to UMass Law because of the advantages it provides as the only public law school in Massachusetts.

UMass Law advantages

I'm originally from Missouri. An important factor in my decision to attend UMass Law was the affordability. As the first public law school in Massachusetts, UMass Law gives people access without worrying about massive amounts of debt. And being a smaller school, UMass Law has also given me the opportunity to know all of the faculty and know all of my classmates.

Focus on public service

I love the public service component of UMass Law. During orientation, a group of us 1Ls got to volunteer at Share the Harvest Farm, where we picked 900 lbs. of produce that was circulated to local homeless shelters.

UMass Law gives me the freedom to, when I graduate, be the lawyer I want to be.
