Art + Design: Interior Architecture + Design
About Karlee Greco
Hi there, my name is Karlee Greco and I am a graduating Senior in the Interior Architecture + Design program offered here at UMass Dartmouth. After having spent my freshman year at Mount Ida College coming into the UMass system has been an overall amazing experience. I have always had a passion for creating artwork for others to decorate their walls with, which eventually turned into me wanting to help when someone was changing paint colors in their home. I knew I wanted to be an Interior Architecture + Design major because I could assist other people and be passionate about what I every day.
For my Senior Thesis I decided to redesign an office building that was no longer in use to become “Lavandula”, a salon and café space. My passion to create this space comes from growing up with a mother who is a hairdresser and an aunt who is a nail technician. Growing up I was always an anxious kid and would pick at my nails, unknowingly twist my hair and tap my feet. “Lavandula” is the Latin meaning of lavender which is known to be a calming scent and plant for many with anxiety. With the on-going Coronavirus pandemic “Lavandula” accounts for all social distancing measures and meets CDC guidelines and requirements per location.
