Sculpture Program Window Installations at the Star Store Campus

The Sculpture program’s AXD 454: Public Art and Installation class is proud to present Growth

The exhibition will be in the windows along Purchase Street at the Star Store Campus in downtown New Bedford for the month of March.

At the beginning of this term, the sculpture program set out to create a forward-thinking public installation project that explores and interprets the concept of growth. As we look toward spring, and a rebirth of life post-pandemic, the theme of growth led students to create sculptures exploring heartbreak, body image, corporeal growth, emotional growth, the power of nature, loss, community-building, expanding nightmares, and the impact of technology on our lives. In addition, these CVPA artists built their ideas through a wide range of materials including: welded steel, felt, plaster, CNC cut wood, tape, found objects, cardboard, paper mache, video, light, and more.

We are grateful to be able to share this meaningful work with our community in a safe and accessible way.
