Hi, my name is Katherine Guinan and I am a senior Interior Architecture and Design major. I have a passion for design and creating spaces that are both user and environmentally friendly. Growing up I always loved art and design. In high school I participated in pottery and gained an even bigger passion for art. I knew early on that interior design was the career path I wanted to take and I could not be happier with the program I am in. I am hoping to work in the hospitality or institutional field of design moving forward.
For my thesis, I decided to design a social media pop-up called Net Reflect that aims to bring awareness to mental health. Its starting locations are in Boston, Dallas, and Seattle in order to give places all around the country a chance to experience it. Inspired by a prism reflecting colored light, Net Reflect aims to create a unique and inclusive experience, transforming used shipping containers into sets for people to create social media content. It also provides space for the public and for those who may not be interested in social media.
