Exhibitions 2019: Between The Binaries
Between The Binaries

October 18 - November 16, 2019

Taylor Maroney, Between the Binaries, an exhibition of paintings
Taylor Maroney, Untitled, 2019. Oil on Canvas, 132" X 84"

Work by Taylor Maroney, 3rd Year MFA Painting graduate student, and recipient of the Elizabeth Greensheild’s International Grant.

Subjects that exist within a binary, need space for contemplation. Taylor Maroney’s paintings seek to offer this space and while questioning the binaries of the societal constructions of race and gender. How do the bodies in which an individual enters the world in, determine how that individual is allowed to occupy space? This is one of the major questions driving Taylor’s imagery. Creating compositions in which the audience is offered equal amounts of information and lack thereof, this group of paintings offers no answers but rather a space to engage.

Opening Reception: Thursday, October 24 from 4-6 pm
