Exhibitions 2025: Makers Merge

Pop-Up Exhibition for AHA! Night at The Vault Performing Arts Center & Pub. Thursday, November 13, 2025 | 5 – 7 PM

The College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) at UMass Dartmouth and the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) are thrilled to present Makers Merge, a student exhibition celebrating the intersection of art, design, and technology at The Vault Performing Arts Center & Pub, 791 Purchase Street, New Bedford.

This collaborative pop-up exhibition brings together innovative projects from four courses - three from UMass Dartmouth and one from RISD - demonstrating how creative practice and emerging technology continue to shape the future of design.

Featured courses include:

• Dynamic Screen-Based Typography and Digital Fabrication, taught by Associate Teaching Professor Lara Henderson (UMass Dartmouth)
• Fashion Design courses led by Professors Aleta Deyo and Sydney Hawes (UMass Dartmouth), showcased through a live fashion show at 6:30 PM
• Toy Design for Social Change, taught by Associate Professor Jessica Brown (Rhode Island School of Design)
• Presented in partnership with AHA! New Bedford, a monthly celebration of local art, history, and architecture, Makers Merge highlights the creative potential that emerges when design, fabrication, and motion design intersect.

Join us in celebrating the achievements of these talented students as they push the boundaries of creativity, technology, and fashion.
