Faculty Alma Davenport
Alma Davenport received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design where she majored in Photography and minored in Printmaking and Ceramics. She studied with Harry Callahan during her undergraduate years. She earned her MFA at the Rhode Island School of Design under the tutelage of Aaron Siskind and Minor White. She is in the Fine Arts Department teaching History of Photography and Nature Drawing.
Davenport has also held teaching jobs at the Community College of Rhode Island, Brown University, RISD, and the Men's Maximum Security Prison in Rhode Island.
Her photographic work is displayed in museums here and abroad, and she is represented by galleries across the country. She wrote the college text The History of Photography--an Overview published by Butterworths/Focal Press.
