Faculty Elaine Fisher

Elaine Fisher earned her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University, and her Master of Design Studies in Computer Studies from Harvard University. She also studied in 1966, 1968 and 1973 with the internationally known photographer, Minor White, who became her mentor and friend.

Elaine is a tenured, Chancellor Professor in the Design Department at UMass Dartmouth, where she has taught both undergraduate and graduate levels since 1973.

She also served as the Design Department Chairperson between 1990 and 1995.

Before joining the faculty at UMass Dartmouth, Elaine spent several years creating all the photographic computer visuals for the Information System For Vocational Decisions, a grant project headed up by Dr. David Tiedeman of the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

In addition, she has been awarded a National Endowment for the Arts in photography, has been honored as the UMass Dartmouth Scholar of the Year 2000, and has had her work exhibited in nearly 200 exhibitions over the length of her career.
