Faculty Rieko Tanaka
Rieko Tanaka has received Bachelor of Music in Piano from Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, Japan, and Masters degree from New England Conservatory of Music where she was chosen as a concerto soloist for the Commencement Concert, and Artist Diploma from Longy School of Music where she has been awarded a Special Achievement Award. She also studied with world renown pianist, Sequeira Costa, at the University of Kansas.
She has appeared as a soloist with several orchestras including Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Suruga Philharmonic Orchestra, and KU Symphony. She has been an active chamber music player, playing with distinguished players such as Asako Urushihara, Christopher Wellington, and Kanako Ito. She is also a member of the Follen Angels, a group that specializes in international Cabaret music and performs frequently in Greater Boston area. The Follen Angels appeared on WBGH and have performed at Scullers Jazz Club, the Center for Arts in Natick, and many other venues in Greater Boston area. Currently, she is teaching at UMass Dartmouth and Winchester Community Music School.
