About Ariel dos Santos
Ariel dos Santos is an Illustration major who primarily specializes in ink illustrations. From a young age she spent her days daydreaming and then translating the images from her daydreams onto paper. She often feels drawn to darker subject matters which tends to peak through her artwork.
Statement
Dream Diary
This series depicts the dreams of myself and various other people. I’ve always felt fascinated by my own dreams. These bizarre scenarios that I did and didn’t experience. What felt natural in my sleep made no sense when I was awake.
The world of our subconscious can appear both alien and nostalgic to our conscious mind. They can be full of joy one minute and terror the next. They show a version of ourselves we may not know or want to know. As with reality our dreams are full of life and often beyond our control.
Rendering the artwork in ink allowed for a moody and dark atmosphere to the illustrations that captivates the viewer and pulls them into the subconscious of another.
