Statement

What does it mean to belong to, and interact within an environment, to be able to freely move within and around it? These questions came to mind when considering the relationships built within my distinctive surroundings. Through these sculptural portraits of my body being concealed and at other times distorted, I want to connect meaningfully with my environments. This exploration began with the urge to step out of my daily routine and address a new relationship within these territories. These photographs are a response to exaggerating my level of comfort / discomfort and communicate an effort in finding a way to become partial to both. This project is completed with a goal to photograph my placement and construct a relationship between nature, myself and the domestic environment. I became fascinated with exploring this idea of isolation with an added element of humor. My presence is felt throughout the series as I become the choreographer, subject and human model. Using my body as a sculptural tool to project the relation to my interiors, both publicly and privately. I want to consider these connections, and find a way to convey the stress I endure when trying to adjust to my interior and domestic  world with a physical and emotional association.
