About Matt DeStoop
Matt DeStoop is a graphic designer from Holbrook, Massachusetts. He has had a passion for graphic design since high school and has always been interested in design related to the music and sports worlds. He has always loved the little details found in those designs. Many people do not realize how design impacts the world around them. Design is everywhere. Matt has a strong interest in typography, branding, and advertising. Matt will receive his degree in Graphic Design in May 2021.
Statement
The topic for this project is an overview of the craft, and the styles of playing the drums. Music, and the drums in particular are Matt’s other passion outside of design, so this project was a great way to combine the two. This is for anyone who is interested in playing the drums, or who just wants to learn about it.
The book and app are informational pieces that take a deep dive into different topics related to the drums, such as the craft of making drums, the different pieces of a drum and a kit, different genres of music and playing styles, and some information about some of the best to ever play.
