About Nicole Virginia Cowden
Nicole Virginia Cowden is a multi-medium designer from the town of Plymouth, Massachusetts. She is focused around collage and typographic design, and is interested in creating simplistic yet thought-provoking designs from a variety of found and digital materials. Nicole is currently finishing a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design with a minor in Women’s studies at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. As a graphic designer, she believes that any asset has the capability of coming together to form a unique and eye-catching visual system, and she wants to create work that reflects that.
Statement
The ABCs of Women in History is a booklet that delivers representative imagery and educational content through paper-craft elements and dynamic typography. The project focuses on twenty-six visual and contextual biographies of women whose legacies are essential to modern history. This project is brings together my identity as a woman and a graphic designer, and is dedicated towards my mother and my grandmother, two of the strongest women in my life.
